Hopeless
It has been hopeless here, nothing exciting beckoning, alhtough I do have a cunning plan hatched to try to get a decent fish out of Cape Town tomorrow!
I spent 2 weeks at Infanta after Xmas and managed two days in the water, one of which was completely marginal!! It has been a very grim summer, in fact the past 2 years have been abysmal by comparison with previous years!
Has it been that bad in the southern cape?

Re: anybody been diving?
I have to agree. Worst year I can remember. The water has generally been freezing. Lot of south easter. When the tail have been in the bay and near enough the Point to swim out, it's been too dirty. My experience anyways. I know of a couple of guys that have been mad enough to swim off the Krans in bad viz. Not my cup of tea. Apart from some steenbras in very dirty water inshore, it's been dismal. Thought I saw a kob one day - no shot. Even Masbaai was 12 degrees on the two days I spent there. Looked everywhere for geelbek, and didn't even see a hottie. Only galjoen are plentiful everywhere as usual. Saw one at Whale Rock that must be 65cm. Maybe more. It was barely moving in the cold water. Two or three others with it were all over 50cm.
I heard that Mossel Bay wasn't great either. Hope things are improving.

Southern cape
This has to be one of the worst summers ever experienced around here the SE has been blowing for 2 month straight now with a divivng day here and there found some clean water with about 6m vis yesterday with huge swell running so bottom time was spent being plowed through sand and reef. Managed to see some fish for a change though sw a yellowbellie swim over my mates shoulder and dissapear into a hole never to be found again. Saw a monster gallie as well. Even to bayside has been crap with some guys with suicide issues attemptimg a dive at Beneckes in Hartenbos in water with 1m vis not the place you want to swim in vis like that he did however shoot the biggest cracker I have ever seen. A 18 kg fish his mate got a 15 kg Steenbras and that was then time to leave as a aggressive white came in and vis being what it was it was time to go.

Wouldn't be out there in that kind of viz, no matter how big the fish. It's different here in the Cape, where we can hide in the kelp. Nice to hear someone is getting fish though.
