Hi guys,

I recently bought a 5.5mm freedivers green camo open-cell from Ekcart, and all that I can say is that I am impressed. I was previously diving with a one-piece and jacket. My bottom time was terrible with my old suit, and I always accepted it to be a lack of preparation from my side.

With the open-cell, my bottom time jumped exponetially due to the improved freedom when I breathe. The suit is so flexible, that it means less effort with leg movement. The suit has made my diving more efficient. Not only this, but I dive for over an hour in Camps Bay in absolute warth.

Well done Freedivers!

I actually bought one today... very nice suit and nice price. Preparing for the 15th of November, a new suit is always seems to be much warmer.

I also been diving with Freedivers suits for a good few years now quality wise there is not much that will beat it and it does no0t compress as much as some better known names on deeper dives.

I'm looking at buying a 3.5mm opencel suite from freedivers. Please give me some info on the type of material used. Does it still have a nylon outer skin or not?

Currently'I'm struggling to choose between the open and closed cell. Your opinions?

Freedivers opencell Empty closed vs opencell

Yes they do have nylon on the outside unless you want a chicle jacket. The opencell suits are much warmer and more flexible but they don't last that long. Whereas the closed cell suits are not that warm but still better than ordinary dive suits and they last a good few seasons if looked well after. All depends what you want to do and the depth you dive at. I have 2 chicle jackets one 5.5mm Freedivers and a 3.5 unknown brand wich I use when we go looking for them deepwater fishies they are super supple and are hot as hell, but they are very fragile a mate of mine actually tore one off his body trying to remove it. So it all comes down to basically what you want to do with it mate.

Thank you for the reply.

What would you say is the life time for the open cell suite if looked after?
