Where to find fish!!
This will increase divers chances of finding game fish as well as reef fish!!
Pinnacles
Reefs
Walls
Banks
Kelp beds
Feeding fish/ Bait balls
Bouys are excellent fish attractors
Known migration paths/ wind conditions/ water tempreture and colour provide fish concentration!
The time of day has an effect on gamefishing
Feeding birds/ dolphins indicate game fish!
Game fish concentrate where currents meet!
Hunt the edge of reefs and drop offs!!
Well here are somethings to look out for or think of when going for game fish or reef fish!

Bringel ,
Hunting reefies and hunting gamefish are 2 totally different techniques in my opinion.
I must admit that i prefer hunting good size reef fish , they give a good challenge , one needs to stalk , be in extra stealth modes , use the surroundings as cover and be able to extend you breath hold as many species hide in caves and overhangs and take some time before coming out to explore.
another important piece of equipment to use while diving reefs is a good quality underwater torch , they come in very handy.

Re: Where to find fish!!
That sound fun!! i have never hunted gamefish and have only dived in the kelp looking for crayfish but when doing that i have spotted alot of fish in the kelp and it does seem more fun to hunt nice size reef fish and ive always wanted to shoot a galjoen and now i get the chance to when the season opens in 2weeks time!!
About the diving touch, arent diving touches expensive??
thank you dieter

Torches are great when diving places with cave structure like Arniston...well worth saving up for...
another tip is to concerve your strength.. I normally do a few exploritory dives bt I swim till a find a "fishy" area, then I work the area a bit.. swim away and then come back to the area as i return....

Finding fish
I have found on the South Cape that whenever you have an good cavey area with a dikkish uprising thermocline you will find the monster tassles and in same conditions on Pinnacles you are almost certain to run into some bigger than usual red stumps mate. So dirtish water is not always bad. Hope that helps a bit.
